Germany has delivered three MARS II multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Ukraine, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht said, ZDF reports.
“We keep our word,”— she said, adding that Berlin also handed over three Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts and ammunition to Kyiv.
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, confirmed the arrival of the systems in the country in his Telegram.
Germany announced the transfer of MLRS to Ukraine in June. Mars II— German version of the American MLRS M270 MLRS. As noted by ZDF, the system can fire missiles of different modes of action, such as guided missiles with a GPS system. Batteries with a combat load of 12 missiles are installed on tracked vehicles that can move at speeds up to 50 km/h.
Lambrecht also said that in September Berlin will transfer a Cobra-type counter-battery radar to Kyiv: “The contract has already been signed , now the training of the Ukrainian military in this complex system will begin».
On the eve of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced the arrival of three Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft missile systems and ammunition to the country from Germany.
