Mandatory evacuation of residents has begun in the Donetsk region, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said on Telegram.

Earlier, Vereshchuk explained the decision to introduce mandatory evacuation by the fact that in the winter there will be no heating in the Donetsk region, since there is “absolutely no gas supply” there. and “there is no proper power supply.” The Deputy Prime Minister referred to Art. 33 of the Code of Civil Protection of Ukraine, according to which the mandatory evacuation of the population is carried out, in particular, in the event of an armed conflict.

According to her, the Ukrainian authorities will have to evacuate at least 200-220 thousand people from the region. Residents of the Donetsk region can refuse to evacuate by signing a document stating that “they are aware of all the consequences and bear personal responsibility for their lives.”
